WINE 2012 will be held at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre Hotel.
We negotiated a special conference deal of £99 per night (including breakfast) which you can book here, subject to availability. A public discounted rate may also be available from here (this rate does not include breakfast, allows no changes or refunds, and does not earn points or stay credit).

The Tutorials on Sunday will be held at the University of Liverpool’s Computer Science Department, in the Ashton Building (map). On Sunday evening, following the tutorials, there will be a reception (18:00-20:00) at The Athenaeum (map). There will be a group leaving the Crowne Plaza at 17:40 to walk to the Athenaeum (map). On Tuesday the conference dinner will be held at Gusto (map). There will be a group leaving the Crowne Plaza at 19:00 to walk to Gusto.


Air Travel

Manchester International Airport (MAN) is 38 miles from Liverpool. There is regular train service (two per hour) from Manchester International Airport to Liverpool Lime St Station. There are direct trains with a journey time of about 1 hour, or trains with one change with a journey time of 1 1/2 hours (National Rail timetables). The Crowne Plaza hotel is about 20 minutes walk (1 mile) from Liverpool Lime St Station. National Express coaches also provide a similar journey time to Liverpool.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) also provides a variety of international flights. The 500 Airport Express Bus leaves from outside the terminal building and takes 25 minutes to reach Liverpool One Bus Station (adjacent to the Hilton Hotel). This is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Crowne Plaza. Regular service buses 80A, 82A, and 86A can also be used.
Taxis are available outside the terminal building and a journey into the city centre would cost approximately £15 – £20.


Car Travel

From M62, continue straight ahead onto Edge Lane (A5080, then A5047) and look for signs for Liverpool City Centre, Liverpool One Shopping Centre, or Albert Dock. The Crowne Plaza Hotel is located about half a mile north of Liverpool One and Albert Dock.

If you’re coming from the Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL), follow A561 into Liverpool, then at Parliament St exit onto A562. Continue to Chaloner St onto A5036, continue until you reach Strand St. Take a sharp right onto Strand St and the Crowne Plaza hotel is on your left.

Coach Travel

National Express provides coach service between Liverpool and many destinations in the United Kingdom. Please get off at the Norton St Terminal, which is about 1 mile from the Crowne Plaza hotel.


Rail Travel

Liverpool Lime Street Station is well-served by the British Rail network with connections to London and all other major British cities. Trains to Liverpool from London take just over 2 hours and leave from Euston Station. Please visit National Rail for ticket information. Lime Steet Station is about 1 mile from the Crowne Plaza hotel. Taxis are available at the Skelhorne St exit of the station.

The Eurostar rail service operates between London (St Pancras), Paris, and Brussels, with further (non-Eurostar) connections to many major European cities. St Pancras to Euston takes about 10 minutes on foot, or it is one stop on the London Underground.


Sea Travel

Liverpool is linked to Dublin via ferry service and Birkenhead (across the Mersey River from Liverpool) is linked to Belfast. Please visit Liverpool Ferry for further information. If you’re traveling with your car, here is one ferry service that can accommodate you.
